Torrential downpour: Heavy rainfall continues to batter Thailand
Bangkok braces for more rain though temperatures could reach up to 37°C

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across 42 provinces, including Bangkok, from the afternoon until evening. Residents are advised to exercise caution. Increased rainfall is expected in the coming week.
Over the next 24 hours, thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast in northeastern, eastern, and western southern regions of Thailand. This weather is attributed to a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, the southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand, combined with a weak monsoon trough passing over upper Myanmar and Laos, leading to a low-pressure area in northern Vietnam.
The Andaman Sea is experiencing moderate winds with waves approximately 2 metres high, while the Gulf of Thailand sees waves about 1 metre high. In areas with thunderstorms, wave heights may exceed 2 metres. Mariners in these regions should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
From June 7 (tomorrow) to June 11, Thailand is expected to experience increased rainfall, with some areas likely to experience intense downpours. The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are expected to have stronger winds, with waves reaching between 2 and 3 metres in the Andaman Sea and 1 to 2 metres in the Gulf.
Thunderstorm areas may see waves exceeding 3 metres. This is due to a moderate monsoon trough moving across the northern, northeastern, and upper central regions of Thailand, leading to a low-pressure area in the central South China Sea, alongside the strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, lower central, southern, eastern regions, and the Gulf of Thailand.
